Changes with Facebook
As a general notice, we have begun our slow transition from using the Facebook group to using our new Facebook page. Due to the radical changes Facebook.com as undergone lately, we feel this is the best and safest option to ensure our presence on the social networking website. Recent updates of the Facebook.com framework show a significant difference between the way current and the old groups are managed, suggesting a lack of support for legacy groups (like ours) and even potential deletion.
Resulting from this change, we will no longer be messaging members on Facebook en masse. This means the only way to receive updates and weekly meeting reminders is to sign up for our newsletter. According to the 2011 constitution, this is part of what is required to be a member without paying dues.
Changes from the Group
- Members will now only receive meeting reminders via email
- Now providing more opportunities to get involved with the club (i.e., upcoming collegiate competitions, workshops, fund raisers).
- We’re closely integrating it into our online presence, including our website, Twitter, Picasa, and Youtube.
